We ask that players make Members’ Donations (which most other orchestras refer to as “subs”), unless this would cause any hardship.

Members donations (“subs”) make a vital contribution to running costs (total costs per year are around £40k!) and allow us to continue to programme exciting music.

Please notes that these are only recommendations.   The recommended annual donation works out around £6.00 for a half day rehearsal if you were to attend them all this season – significantly lower than many other London amateur orchestras of a similarly high standard who charge mandatory fees.

Unlike many other orchestras, we do not operate a “pay to play” policy, as we understand that pensioners, students and people on low incomes or who are unemployed may find making any donation difficult.  We do not expect students to make members donations.

How do I pay?

  • The preferred method is electronic transfer to Music Illuminated R/C
    (sort code 089299, account 65050778).
    Remember to include your name in the “Reference” field
  • You can also pay by cheque (to “Music Illuminated”)

Increase your donation at no extra personal cost!

As Music Illuminated is a registered charity we are able to reclaim income tax paid on subscription donations. We can claim an extra 25p for every £1 you donate so a donation of £25 a concert would be worth £31.25 to ERSO at no extra cost to you.
