ERSO is managed by a registered charity, Music Illuminated.  Instead of a formal subscription system or ‘pay to play’ policy we ask for voluntary donations to help towards the running costs of the orchestra and enable us to be able to afford to do more interesting and challenging works.

  Donation recommendation
Annual £130.00
Per concert £30.00
Monthly standing order £10.00

Please notes that these are only recommendations and some members donate more or less as they feel appropriate.   The recommended annual donation works out around £5.00 for a half day rehearsal if you were to attend them all this season – we think you’ll agree that’s pretty good value for a fun three hours of music making in London!  These suggested donations are also significantly lower than many other London amateur orchestras of a similarly high standard who charge mandatory fees.

Don’t worry!

We understand that pensioners, students and those on low incomes or who are unemployed etc may find making any donation difficult and we want to emphasise that there is no obligation to donate if this applies to you. We would much rather have you on board making music with us!

If you are in a position to make donations without creating any hardship, particularly if you are in full-time employment, it would be greatly appreciated as it will allow us to make more ambitious plans and reduce the huge amount of work that is involved in external fundraising.

How do I pay?

  • The preferred method is electronic transfer to Music Illuminated R/C
    (sort code 089299, account 65050778).
Remember to include your name in the “Reference” field
  • You can also pay by cheque (to “Music Illuminated”)

Increase your donation at no extra personal cost!

As Music Illuminated is a registered charity we are able to reclaim income tax paid on subscription donations. We can claim an extra 25p for every £1 you donate so a donation of £25 a concert would be worth £31.25 to ERSO at no extra cost to you.

If you are a UK tax payer please complete this Gift Aid Form and hand it to our Treasurer and 2nd violinist, Colin Foan.

If you have any queries about donations or Gift Aid please contact Colin in person or on  All enquiries will be treated in confidence.
